About the Artist or Work:
I'm constantly striving to make something beautiful and meaningful. Sometimes someone will tell me that they wear a piece of my jewelry every day. Or that a piece of my jewelry has helped them through a rough patch in their life. It's then that I know what I'm doing is really working and that my jewelry has meaning for my customer. I believe all jewelry has the potential to become a personal talisman for the wearer. Jewelry marks times and occasions in our lives and because of that, it's important. I do a lot of reading about ancient civilizations and the jewelry that was buried in tombs and graves. It fascinates me.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Lately much of my inspiration has come from studying the jewelry produced by ancient civilizations. I've had a lifelong fascination with history and have spent a lot of time looking at artifacts and jewelry in museums and, when at home, books. I'm always fascinated and inspired that people have worn beads and jewelry since prehistoric times. On a recent visit to The Smithsonian I marveled over a tiny bone bead which was found in a cave dwelling. That one little bead was so inspiring because I love to imagine the caveman or woman who tied it around their neck on a piece of sinew, and thus adorned themselves with their own personal talisman.

Favorite Shop or Restaurant in Doylestown:
I love Kawa Grill for delicious Indian food. They will make it as spicy or as mild as you want. The portions are huge and they have incredible vegetable samosas that I'm sort of addicted to. Well, I'm also partial to their naan -- especially their cheese naan. It's hot and buttery and the kind of food that feeds the soul. Because they are located right next to my studio and shop, it's also really convenient. I've joked with the owners that we could install a door between our walls and they could just hand the food to me through the wall.

About the Artist or Work:
I started creating jewelry about 9 years ago. I initially made pieces with semi-precious stones and crystals but quickly became enamored by seed beads and bead weaving. Over the years, I have continued to grow with my beadwork and now "paint" with beads using bead embroidery. Please stop by my booth to say hello and to see some of my latest creations.

I love to let the stones and fossils I use in my bead embroidery dictate the way a piece will turn out.

About the Artist or Work:
Elizabeth Ashley is a freelance photographer based in a small town in southeastern Pennsylvania. Upon dabbling in higher education in a Major University Setting and following up with more higher education in an Island Setting (the island of Manhattan), Elizabeth decided the time had come to trade the textbooks for a camera and the classroom for the wide world. She enjoys pursuing her most enjoyable endeavor- that of trapping motion in the space of a photograph- in any setting, at any time, in any place. Working with several established photographers on the east coast, catering to her clientele and spending every free moment with camera in hand, Elizabeth has somehow managed to carve a career from a dream.  “The camera is the least important element in photography.” -Julius Shulman

About the Artist or Work:
What drives me to create is what motivates me to be the best person I can be: mood enhancement. When I create something – whether it is a piece of glass, a painting, or a smile on someone’s face – my life’s burdens are lifted. I am also driven by the knowledge that my creations enhance the moods of those who receive them.
Ever since I started creating art in the far away corners of my family’s hosiery mill in Bucks County, I have searched to find ways to love what I do each and every day. If something from me inspires another to move toward a life of happiness then I feel that I have done my job. This is the current in my artistic evolution.
Where do you find your inspiration?
I find inspiration everywhere – in the glorious landscape, through the face of adversity, within the cashier at a convenience store, etc. Everything and everyone offers a chance for us to learn and grow.

About the Artist or Work:
Wren & Cooper was founded in 2006 by Mariah Wren & Mark Cooper. Our aim has been to design and build clean, contemporary furniture from sustainable materials, right here in the USA.

We believe that well considered design and excellent craftsmanship are the cornerstones of building exemplary furniture. We feel that one of the best ways to make a product truly sustainable is to ensure that it will last for centuries. To achieve this goal, we use solid hardwoods and old style, traditional joinery. We don’t have an assembly line. We build each piece from rough board to finished product, by hand. This method of production ensures that each piece is expertly crafted, through each step of the building process. We use locally sourced, FSC certified sustainable domestic hardwoods, minimizing waste wherever possible.

I studied Fine Art and Graphic Design graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology. After working in NYC in Advertising I decided to go back to my Fine Art roots so I could stay home to raise my 2 children. I started making Floorcloths about 15 years ago but it was 5 years ago I decided to try selling them at Arts Festivals. Doylestown Arts Festival was my first and to this day is still my favorite Arts Festival to display/sell at. Looking forward to this years festival as well.

About the Artist or Work:
“Furniture has been called accessible sculpture because we all live with it, touch it, and interact with it every day. I design my work so that it is both artistically interesting and functional. The goal of each piece is to stretch my creative instincts and craft skills as well as produce an item that will give the owner years of good service.”
A native of Ohio, David L. Spray learned basic wood construction from his grandfather and uncle. For over 30 years, he has experimented with the design possibilities of wood furniture. While his craft-work was originally an inexpensive way to make furnishings for the house, he soon realized he enjoyed the creative process and started branching out into furniture that was not only functional but expressive. He set up a home-based wood working shop and became an avid hobbyist, which evolved into working part-time as a custom furniture designer and creator. Currently, he is a full-time wood crafter. His work has evolved through several styles as he discovered new ways to express himself through furniture making

About the Artist or Work:
I am the artist in residence for Bucks County Magazine, and have been a resident of beautiful and historic Bucks County for 27 years. I am inspired by the beauty all around me. I really enjoy painting historic buildings, as well as nature scenes. The history in Bucks County is amazing and there are so many wonderful scenes. I have painted so many of them. The subjects to paint are endless! I am an artist who specializes in realism.I am also known to paint in painstaking detail. My medium is acrylic, which I enjoy painting on canvas. I also enjoy painting in watercolor and oils.
Where do you find your inspiration?
My inspiration is found in the beauty that is everywhere in beautiful Bucks County. I am a studio painter, but many times if the weather cooperates, I grab my camera and head out to explore and hopefully capture the inspiration for my next painting. When I painted the Thompson-Neely Grist Mill, I saw the perfect opportunity to capture the scene in the middle of a snowstorm. The result was fabulous. There was an old chain link covered in snow hanging off the post as you entered the scene. It was key. The snow was coming down heavy, but the fresh snow falling onto my subject the Grist Mill, was captivating. I tromped back in to the house later that day, covered in snow and shivering, but happy!

About the Artist or Work:
After 30 years as a scientist, I have rediscovered that the great beauty underlying the physical world is replicated throughout nature. My passion encompasses wild landscapes. Extreme environments challenge our sense of the possible.

My love of nature was kindled growing up in the woodland and seacoast areas of New England. I have been married for 29 years and live in Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania where my wife and I raised our two children.

Where do you find your inspiration?
I like images that capture a feeling from a location and a moment when we slow down our lives a little. Photography is my way of slowing down. When I find interesting and rare moments, I like to make photographs of what I see so that it can be enjoyed again and shared with others.

About the Artist or Work:
Val Sivilli has fully realized the true power of the T-Shirt. Her work enjoys a depth and a resonance that few artists have. Civilian’s images have a hopeful, positive edge that is never too sweet or too simple.  Val is a painter & a print maker. She prints objects, bodies and text onto fabric. Late one evening, about 20 years ago, she ran out of fabric. She printed onto some of her old T-Shirts, the only fabric she could find at 1AM. Thus, one fateful night, Civilian was born.  The popularity of these shirts created a dilemma. Val has an MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts. Like most art majors, she had absolutely no business training. Luckily , her T-Shirts sold very quickly and without much effort. Val reluctantly hopped onto the T-Shirt train as it was leaving the station. She gradually allowed that train to take her wherever it wanted to go. Civilian, by the fact of its fast and easy success, has taught Val how run a small, local business. Civilian helped to connect Val with her community on a very deep level.  Val has owned and operated Civilian Art since 1992. She has a full screen-printing shop in her studio. Civilian creates images for many community based projects as well as for many local businesses and events. She designs the graphics, writes all of the lyrics, and prints all of her own T-Shirts. It is a labor of love for the last 20 years.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Making good art specifically for a T-Shirt is a true challenge. T-Shirt art has it’s own voice, it’s own demands. Creating both wearable and provocative images requires a deep connection to the human spirit. There is a level of responsibility to this art form unlike any other form of art. It demands respect for the individual who will wear it. T-Shirt art has become the single most popular and accessible art form in the world today. Rarely has any art form been collected by as many people as the T-Shirt. The art world, in all of its grandeur, can only dream of being embraced by the public with the same passion that the T-Shirt has been.

About the Artist or Work:
I would describe my work as eclectic in that I enjoy making a variety of unrelated items...from the simple, to the very complex. Whenever I can, I employ materials from sustainable or recycled sources. My cutting boards, trivets and bowls are made from domestic hardwoods, but incorporate colorful exotic woods which differentiate them from the mass market items. Each of my hand turned pens are one of a kind creation made using a variety of woods and acrylic. My Pennsylvania Spice Box reproduction is simply a labor of love employing intricate inlay, and traditional construction techniques. I often start a project with only a gross idea of what I want to make...materials on hand, and flashes of inspiration guide me the rest of the way. More times than not, these types of projects turn out better than those that were preplanned.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Necessity is my inspiration. I rarely make anything of a purely decorative nature. Function must go hand in hand with athetics.

There she was exposed to many different styles of silversmithing, and learned the art of beading.

After college Jo Ann spent several years in the business world learning the practical applications of running a small artisan business. During this time she continued her metalsmithing education through art centers and retreats.

Since starting her business, Jo Ann has embraced the idea of jewelry as wearable art. Causing her to create pieces that encourage joy, personal growth, and transformation.

About the Artist or Work:
I have an appreciation for the beauty of nature in all of its seasons. From the first leaf-fall to the last snow-flake I am in constant search for scenes and subjects that I can capture in a moment in time. Shapes and form, colors and shades - they all appear in their own time and place, often unexpectedly. I explore the mundane as well as magnificent, looking for an expression of grace and beauty.
Where do you find your inspiration?
I find inspiration simply by being aware of my surroundings. I will often see something - whether it be a cloud formation or sunset or something else - that makes me think about the possibilities of creating a compelling image, either right then or in the future. If the time is not right I might return to a place at a later time, possibly months or even years later.

Tonya Lov Jewelry began in my workshop in Collegeville Pennsylvania. My interests in abstract painting and three dimensional arts blossomed into my love for hand painting and sculpting my porcelain clay. I have been creating my porcelain and beaded jewelry for almost 20 years.  My jewelry designs are lightweight, fun, funky, textured and at the same time they have an earthy flair to them. Each piece is hand crafted from kiln-fired porcelain clay, hand painted with a white gold luster, and finished with a variety of beads, chains, and cords.
Where do you find your inspiration?
I get a lot of my inspiration from nature with all the colors and the textures that surround our environment. I also am inspired by people. When someone loves my jewelry it makes me so happy that I just want to keep creating to make more people happy.
