About the Artist or Work:
The year 2009 was a decisive year for Andre and Karin. Our daughter, a
naturalized U.S. citizen, has lived in the United States for five years,
along with her husband and our two lovely granddaughters. The longing
to be with them was too much for us. So, we moved from Germany to the
U.S. that same year. While in the process of obtaining permanent
legal residency (which we obtained), we were attracted to the various
species of birds and the multitude of tree woods located in the
Pennsylvania area. Thanks to Andre's love for wood, we came up with
the idea of constructing birdhouses and began building them in our
children's garage. It was so much fun, and with the encouragement of
both family and friends, what began as a hobby, later became the basis
ob our present business,"Unique Birdhouses".
What/who inspires you to create art?
The characteristics of the various woods and the variety of bird species
enabled us to construct birdhouses of various shapes and designs. Each
birdhouse is handcrafted and unique in style and each piece is produced
